What else should you know?
What are the current household income limits?
Income depends on household size. These are the maximum combined pre-tax incomes for each level:
| People | Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3* |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $51,100 | $63,900 | $102,100 |
| 2 | $63,600 | $79,500 | $127,200 |
| 3 | $78,200 | $97,700 | $156,300 |
| 4 | $94,900 | $118,600 | $189,800 |
| 5 | $107,600 | $134,500 | $215,200 |
| 6 | $121,400 | $151,700 | $242,700 |
| 7+ | $135,100 | $168,900 | $270,200 |
* Level 3 applies only to qualifying ground-oriented homes converting from oil, natural gas or propane. Condos use Levels 1 and 2 only.
Does BC Assessment value matter?
Yes. For applications on or after April 1, 2026: ground-oriented homes are limited to $1,200,000 for Levels 1–2 and $1,820,000 for Level 3. Eligible condos or apartments have a $754,000 threshold. Other program conditions apply.
Can I keep my old gas furnace and still get the full rebate?
For the standard natural-gas-to-electric-heat-pump rebate, the existing primary fossil-fuel heating system must be removed. Specific dual-fuel incentives have different, limited requirements—do not assume that keeping a gas furnace qualifies.
What if I already have a heat pump?
Replacing or adding another heat pump to a home with an existing heat pump is generally not eligible for these Energy Savings Program heat pump conversion rebates.
Are condos and apartments eligible?
Some are. The condo/apartment program applies to certain electrically heated units in eligible buildings, including apartments up to six storeys and other qualifying configurations. Strata consent, metering, assessed value and income requirements can apply.
Does approval mean I receive the maximum amount?
No. The approved amount depends on your income level, eligible equipment, existing heating source and other requirements. Rebates cannot exceed eligible upgrade costs.
